LEGO STEM Activities for a Preschooler

Posted Mar. 1, 2020 by Dave

Surviving extended periods of time at home and keeping your sanity is tough with young active and inquisitive children. When daycare, grandparents and activity clubs are all gone, what do you do? Raining outside too? Kids need something to entertain them. If they get bored, that’s usually when irritable or attention seeking behavior can set in.

LEGO's Spike Prime Kits Give Kids The Confidence To Code

Posted April 2, 2019 by Kris Naudus

STEM has a bit of an image problem: Despite efforts to make it colorful and friendly, it's still intimidating to a lot of students. When there are parents shoving electronics kits at them while offering no help and teachers insisting that learning to code is fundamental to their career prospects, some kids end up completely turned off. But now LEGO Education has a $330 kit, Spike Prime, aimed at building coding literacy and overcoming the confidence problem that drives many kids away from STEM before they reach high school.

LEGO Powered Up Questions and Answers

Posted August 20, 2018 by Admin

With the launch of the new LEGO Power Functions 2.0 (now referred to as LEGO Powered Up) system in the #60197 LEGO City Passenger Train, #60198 LEGO City Cargo Train, and #76112 LEGO Super Heroes App-Controlled Batmobile, a lot of questions and concerns surfaced from the LEGO fan community. Ambassadors of the various recognized LEGO fan groups were asked to gather and submit questions from their members, so the LEGO Powered Up team can answer them. Below, I have included a summary of some of the topics that was discussed, and you can read the full discussion in this LEGO Ambassador Network blog post and comment section.

LEGO App-Controlled Batmobile 76112

Posted August 1, 2018 by Edwinder

The LEGO Batman App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) made its debut earlier in the year and has been quite anticipated since then. LEGO sets are pretty static in general within the System theme, with exceptions like vehicles running on tracks and rails such as trains and the recent roller coaster, so it’s pretty nice to have a free-form controlled device in the mainstream market that won’t take much time from build to play. The new Batmobile finally hits store shelves today, and we’re taking it for a spin so we can pretend to be the Dark Knight for a day.

Posted March 14, 2018 by Aleksandra Ziemacka

LEGO Mindstorms sets are counted among the most widespread tools for teaching robotics and programming. The third generation of this set (after RCX and NXT) is presently available on the market in two versions: Education, for general school use, and Home, for individual consumers. What are the differences between the two? Is the costly Education version better? Do programming apps differ as well? In this article, we try to answer all these questions and more.
